The Emergency Services Show will take place at Hullavington Airfield on Sunday September 13th. This is always an enjoyable day with lots to do and see. As usual, we hope to have a stand to help promote the group and attract new members but can only do this if we get enough volunteers to help out. If you can lend a hand please contact Mary Southgate (info@wiltshireroadar.co.uk). Thanks! |

Royal Air Force Association Banger Run |
You may remember that last year, one of our members, Gary Franks, spoke at a monthly meeting about his Banger Run trip in a Volvo that he had converted to look like a Routemaster Bus. Well he's at it again! This year he is taking part in a similar run in aid of the Royal Air Force Association. His latest creation is equally impressive too - a Ford Cougar that has been converted to resemble Dick Dastardly's Mean Machine. His route will roughly follow the D-Day Band of Brothers route from Normandy, through Europe to the Eagles Nest in Berchtesgarten, and then on over an obligatory alpine pass to Venice. If you'd like to find out more, and to donate, visit his Facebook site at https://m.facebook.com/TheLostBoys2 and his Just Giving site at https://www.justgiving.com/double-zero. |
Car Insurance Hire Cars and Courtesy Vehicles |
I recently read an interesting article in The Daily Telegraph that claimed that many motorists do not know what kind of replacement vehicle their car insurance policy entitles them to, and do not understand the difference between a hire car and a courtesy car. Despite this, most drivers said a replacement vehicle was either critical or important to them. To clarify, a hire car is hired by the insurer, is likely to be almost brand new and you should end up with something similar to your own vehicle. A courtesy car is provided by the repairer and could be an old, small vehicle that hangs around at garages. It may also not be available immediately, and there may be limits on the mileage or time that you can have the vehicle. Many policies will only provide a courtesy car "subject to availability". Something to think about when comparing insurance policies! |
We are running another First Aid Course on Saturday 3rd October at Liddington Village Hall. Contact Mary Southgate (info@wiltshireroadar.co.uk) if you'd like to attend. |
Don't forget that we hold regular SkillShare sessions for motorcyclists on the first Saturday of every month. The next one is on the 5th September. These sessions give all riders the opportunity to have their riding checked by one of our Tutors as well as the chance to have a chat over a cup of coffee. Skillshare is held at The Divine Cafe in Cherhill, near Calne. More information is available at www.wiltshireroadar.co.uk/motorcyclists/skillshare. | | |
